Taketoyo Japan is situated on the eastern coast of the Chita Peninsula which lies south of Nagoya. It has a population of about 39,000 and an area of about 10 square miles.

taketoyo-tapestry.jpg (13750 bytes)The development of Taketoyo in earlier times was due to its being a port and having a railroad line. Presently, Taketoyo and neighbouring cities and towns with small ports have joined to form one large port called port of Kinuura. A part of the sea was reclaimed for a coastal industrial zone in the 1960's. One of the main exports of the area is steel, which is sent to Canada, the USSR, China, and the USA.
