This is John's dad, Albert
(Bert). He worked in the newspaper business all of his adult life
as a lineotype operator. He started his career in Morris, OK working
for his father and moved to Monroe, LA; then moved his family
to Long Beach, CA where he worked for the Press Telegram. In his
younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing and taught his two
boys in both while living in Monroe. He loved family and his grandchildren
were the apple of his eye. |
John's mother, Margaret, was
a full-time Mom. She did work at Roosevelt Elementary School at
lunchtime for many years, enjoying her contact with the children
and made many friends. She also enjoyed hunting when living in
Morris, OK. She and her husband, Bert, raised two sons, Jerry
and John. As a family they took many car trips seeing large sections
of the United States. Margaret loved telling stories about the
trips and family. |

Awards for this work. He and wife, Valerie, have three children
(2 girls and 1 boy). After retireing from the movie industry,
he and wife, Melissa, moved to Australia and enjoy their life
there. |
John spent the first 9 years
of his life in Monroe, LA, where he learned to love the bayou
country. He and his dad and brother spent lots of time on the
bayou hunting and fishing. He loves to tell stories of 'gigging'
frogs, of gaters and water moccasins. After moving to California
he enjoyed trips back for family visits. After graduating with
a BA, he married his wife, Ann. They resided in California most
of their adult life until retirement. They spent about 6 months
in Arizona while John was stationed at Fort Huachuca before serving
his country in Viet Nam. After retirement, they moved to Utah
to escape the hustle and bustle of California and to be closer
to family. Since retirement, he has served in many capacities
in the Church and served a mission in Arkansas with his wife.
