Anniversary Poem to John |
July 12, 2009 |
I wrote this poem for John in celebration
of our 41st wedding anniversary.
As we stood in the front of the church |
|||
| Forty-one years ago today. | |||
| You in a tux and me dressed in white | |||
| Our vows we were happy to say. | |||
| - - - - - - - - - - - - | |||
| Was it really us so long ago, | |||
| Or was it a different pair? | |||
| Their love has grown into so much more | |||
| What we have now doesn’t even compare. | |||
| - - - - - - - - - - - - | |||
| So what was it that day so long ago | |||
| That brought them to that point in their life? | |||
| The excitement, anticipation of a new beginning, | |||
| Starting out as husband and wife. | |||
| - - - - - - - - - - - - | |||
| As a small seed into a beautiful flower grows, | |||
| So it has been with us two. | |||
| Our love for each other has deepened and grown | |||
| As we’ve shared it while our family grew. | |||
| - - - - - - - - - - - - | |||
| Look what we have now in our sunset years. | |||
| We have family who share in our life. | |||
| What a blessing to know that we always will be | |||
| Forever husband and wife. | |||
