Anniversary Poem to John |
July 12, 2009 |
I wrote this poem for John in celebration
of our 41st wedding anniversary.
As we stood in the front of the church |
|||
Forty-one years ago today.
You in a tux and me dressed in white
Our vows we were happy to say.
- - - - - - - - - - - - | |||
Was it really us so long ago,
Or was it a different pair?
Their love has grown into so much more
What we have now doesn’t even compare.
- - - - - - - - - - - - | |||
So what was it that day so long ago
That brought them to that point in their life?
The excitement, anticipation of a new beginning,
Starting out as husband and wife.
- - - - - - - - - - - - | |||
As a small seed into a beautiful flower grows,
So it has been with us two.
Our love for each other has deepened and grown
As we’ve shared it while our family grew.
- - - - - - - - - - - - | |||
Look what we have now in our sunset years.
We have family who share in our life.
What a blessing to know that we always will be
Forever husband and wife.
